Bench Mark Tests

Inequalities:

1) Solve Inequalities just as you would Equalities: Follow Order of Operations, and Signed Number Rules.
2) BUT, if you have to Divide or Multiply the term by a (-) Negative, (ie -3x >= 12: you have to switch the operation: -3x/-3 <= 12/-3
3) If it is >= or <=, the "DOT" on the arrow over the number line is FILLED IN.
4) If it is > or <, the "DOT" on the arrow over the number line is "OPEN" (or not filled in).
5) Check your answer by using a value from the "Solution Set" back into the original problem to validate the answer.

Scale Drawings:

There may be a problem with some of the problems that use maps or require "Measurements". As PDF files and Graphics are reduced and enlarged, the "scale defined and "actual" length may not be correct: ie a save: of 1 CM = 100 Miles, but the 1 cm line may be longer or shorter than stated and cause incorrect calculations! Maps or drawings that were once "printed" with the correct scale may have been modified as well.
